HOTWORX 24-Hour Infrared Fitness Studio
DeCheyna Bartholomew is from the small town of Vian, Oklahoma. Athletics have always been a huge part of her life. She grew up playing basketball, track, and cross country, but her true passion was competitive cheer. Cheerleading would eventually land her a scholarship to St. Gregory’s University (SGU) in Shawnee, Oklahoma. She had planned to finish her first year at SGU and then transfer to cheer for Oklahoma State University. Five days before competing in Dayton Florida at Nationals, she blew her right knee out in practice. She has since had two knee surgeries. After her injury, she was no longer able to cheer, but still attended Oklahoma State University where she received her bachelor’s in Exercise Science. Needless to say, finding a workout routine to accommodate her injury seemed impossible. That is until she found HOTWORX!
DeCheyna was unable to walk for over three months after her injury, which took a toll on her mental and physical health. During that time she couldn’t exercise and the weight kept creeping up. “At one point I was 45 pounds heavier than before my surgery. During my time at OSU, I tried everything to get the weight off but nothing worked for me”, says Bartholomew. She couldn’t run, a traditional gym was out of the question, and the pain was so awful after a workout that it wasn’t worth it. At that point, she would have rather had the weight than experience the excruciating knee pain from exercising. That all changed when the HOTWORX in Fort Smith, AR opened. It took her several months to even try it, but once she did, she was hooked. There was no pain or inflammation in her knee after the first workout. She would then use the infrared sauna sessions at least 4 times weekly and finally was able to lose the 45 pounds and get back to herself. Fast forward to today…DeCheyna has opened Springfield, Missouri’s first HOTWORX studio. The benefits of Infrared Heated workouts will forever change your life, as it has hers.
HOTWORX is a 24hr Fitness Studio where you work out inside a heated Infrared sauna. A 15-minute HIIT session in a HOTWORX Infrared sauna burns more calories than 90 minutes in a traditional gym setting.
The virtually instructed exercise programs are created for users to experience the many benefits of infrared heat absorption while completing a 30 or 15-minute workout. HOTWORX offers over ten Infrared workouts such as Hot Yoga, Hot Pilates, Hot Barre None, Hot Cycle, Hot Warrior, HIIT, and many more.
The HOTWORX® 3D Training experience provides an array of time-efficient benefits in every single fitness session. It’s a workout unlike any other fitness program available.
HOTWORX 3D TRAINING
1 | HEAT RAISES CORE BODY TEMPERATURE AND SPEEDS UP METABOLISM
When your core body temperature rises, there is an anabolic effect that speeds up your metabolism and reduces warm-up time.
2 | INFRARED ENERGY ACTIVATES AND STRENGTHENS THE REGENERATIVE PROCESS
Infrared energy has the effect of strengthening and activating the regenerative processes in the human body. This is why workouts in an infrared energy environment can help to accelerate workout recovery and leave you with glowing skin.
3 | EXERCISE INCREASES HEART RATE AND MAXIMIZES CALORIE BURN
Two forms of exercise work very well inside of the HOTWORX infrared sauna- Isometrics and HIIT. With isometrics, a variety of methods can be used, such as yoga and Pilates. With HIIT, a short 15-minute routine with a cycle or row will provide just the right amount of results when combined with heat & infrared energy.
CONSISTENCY
HOTWORX adheres to the fundamental workout principle of consistency because muscles strengthen most efficiently from practice through a logical training sequence. The choreography and production of each HOTWORX workout type pay special attention to the consistency of flow and postures for isometrics, and the consistency of intervals for HIIT. This is a vital component to provide for performance measurability and to accelerate the progression of strength and skill.
CROSS-TRAINING
This technique involves using multiple different workout types during a day of training or throughout the training week and is a vital component of the HOTWORX method. Cross-training by varying workouts has been around for ages, stimulating muscle development beyond keeping to the same routine every session. For example, Hot Yoga might be practiced three times per week, with a few sessions of Hot Cycle also performed, as well as Hot Pilates.
LANDING PHASE
HOTWORX isometric workouts incorporate foam rolling as a part of the session’s cool down or “landing phase.” Foam rolling enhances circulation when pressure is applied to the skin and heat is released, and organs work to perform their natural toxin removal process. Foam rolling also forces a mindfulness that is similar to meditation, causing a connection of the mind to the body part that is being rolled. This tension-relieving exercise can create a sense of euphoria as you increase dopamine levels in the brain while you become more present in the moment.
